How To Find A Qualified Tree Service Company

6/15/2015

Homeowners searching for qualified tree care companies should look for the following:

  • Good References: Ask for references, and check on the quality of their work. Don't be rushed by a bargain and don't pay in advance.
  • Proof of Insurance: Ask for current certificates of liability and workers' compensation insurance, if applicable. Be aware that if the tree care company you hire doesn't have insurance or is not a legal company, you - the homeowner - could be held responsible as a contractor.
  • Solid Reputation: Verify professional affiliations the company might have, such as memberships in business and/or professional organizations such as the Tree Care Industry Association.
  • Up-to-Date Knowledge: Ask if they follow ANSI Standards. A professional arborist will be aware of the current safety, pruning, fertilizing, and cabling standards.
  • Contract: Insist on a signed contract as to cost, dates when work is to be performed, and exactly what is to be done. Insist that climbing spikes are used only if the tree is to be cut down.

Thank you for letting me know that I should hire a tree care company that is aware of the most recent standards, according to the ANSI. Since we just moved, my husband and I want to make sure we take great care of our lawn and the plants on it. So we'll be sure to find a tree care service that prunes and fertilizes according to the latest standards.

These are great tips for finding a tree service. I love how you said that you should make sure to look at the company's past work and talk to previous clients. To me, that's why online research is so important. Doing that allows you to find the company with the best experience and record.

Indeed it is a good idea to get references and check the quality of work before hiring a tree service company. My uncle has a couple of trees in his backyard and mentioned he wants them trimmed. I'll be sure to talk to him about getting references and checking quality before deciding which tree care company should he hire.

I hadn't heard of the ANSI standards before. I'll have to make sure I remember that and find a tree service that follows them. that will probably help me make sure I find a service that will do the job safely and up to city standards.

That seems like a good idea that you should make sure that they have workers' compensation and liability insurance. My trees are starting to look really overgrown, and I think that they may need to be pruned. Thanks for your tips; I'll just need to find a tree care service with those types of insurance.

I love that your suggested talking to some of the company's references to have an idea about the quality of their work. I will definitely do this when I start tree company hunting tomorrow so that we will be hiring the best for our money. We just needed to get our tree serviced because it hasn't been producing the fruits that we were expecting especially that it's the time of the month where it should have been growing fruits already. Thanks for the tips!

I really appreciate your tip to try and find a landscaper who is all caught up with the standards of the ANSI. My wife and I have been thinking of getting a new house with a lot of big trees in the backyard, and we don't want the branches to get too close to the roof. If we move into the house, I will be sure to tell my wife that we should find a tree service that is up to standard!

I think the most useful advice here it to just a hire a professional. I feel like some people try to do something by themselves and are not qualified. I think I would just call the professional before I hurt myself.

Hi Joy Butler,
This was a excellent informative post you have shared on this page about the tools used in the tree removal But ,They can have specialization in treating plants, climbing, assessing the tree, ecosystem of the landscape and pruning trees etc. so while choosing a company for this service should opt for one who have enough manpower trained and certified in arboriculture from authorized institutes, who are professional to identify threatened and inherent trees.
Thanks.

In winter, citrus colours our garden with vibrant pops of yellow and orange. Recipes including these deliciously sour fruits spring to mind and fills our kitchen with their heavenly aromas. More reason to love citrus, especially lemons, is the fact it is easy to grow and does not require a lot of maintenance. Water, sunlight and pruning twice a year, are all that these trees need to flourish.

The base of this punch is lambrusco. It’s almost a little bubbly and it’s RICH. I’m having a weird moment with red wine. It’s crazy, because I haven’t been into reds for years now. The past month or so though? I’ve really been enjoying them – so I wanted to go with that.

I used the base of my autumn syrup. Some orange juice. Pomegranate soda. Grand marnier since I’m obsessed

it’s good to know most can be prevented by proactive measures. Now is a good time to inspect trees, before the worst of summer’s storms and heavy winter snowfall. If you notice any of the above signs, contact a professional, as most tree removal jobs are unsafe for the average home or property owner.
Thanks.
